Toyota Manufacturing UK says 240m upgrade while using plant Is headed ahead

Toyota insists yourrrre able to send Burnaston plant is “here to stay” C despite rumours while in the popular press that the future was a student in doubt over uncertainty following Brexit.

Earlier within the week, Executive vice-president Didier Leroy had?said whilst at Frankfurt Motor Show: “A few days ago government entities was saying: ‘We’re sure i will be in the position to negotiate (a great deal) without any trade tax’. They aren’t saying that much more.

“We are not going to close the [Burnaston] plant tomorrow morning but, if in just two to three years, we will have to decide some future investments, of course the magic formula is the competitiveness of this plant from now on.”

He added “It’s clear that, once we really need to wait 2 to 3 more years to experience clarity during this topic, we’re going to have a big question mark about our future investment in the region.”

However, Tony Walker UK Deputy Md insists: “Costs of 240 million to prepare guarana with the introduction of your new TNGA platform vehicles will go ahead as planned.

“We’d like to be clear, nothing has changed. On this investment, and our members’ capabilities, we’re also devoted to achieving the competitiveness that could enable us to keep at it making cars at Burnaston long within the future.”
